Woodsgift PJE 98-44

PJE 98-44 is currently the senior herd sire in use in the Woodsgift herd. An exceptional bull from who we expect great things in the future, based on his first progeny. PJE 98-44 is a very masculine bull, carrying a lot of beef with very good overall conformation and strong muscling. PJE 98-44 is sired by the Kykso Hadau, the well known South African bull, out of PJE 1217, probably the leading female in the Woodsgift herd. PJE 1217 comes out the strongest mother
line in the Woodsgift herd and details of this bloodline are shown below. PJE 98-44 is a genetically superior bull.

PJE 83-461 (Streik)

PJE 461 is the matriarch of the leading cow family in the Woodsgift herd. A very feminine, well pigmented cow sired by PJE 47(Streik lines)- she has performed well in the show ring as well as on the breeding front. She was judged as the Champion Super Cow at a previous Harare Show in the Interbreed competition. This competition is based partly on the visual appearance of the cow but more on her production as she has to be shown with at least 2 of her progeny. She has bred some outstanding progeny, but specifically 2 daughters stand out - PJE 907 and PJE 1217. PJE 907 was sold for the top price at our 1997 production sale but previously had given us 3 herd sires which are now being used in herds in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. PJE 1217 was judged the supreme champion beef female in the interbreed competition at the 2000 Harare Show, with her son 97-42 being the highest priced Simmental sold in Zimbabwe in 2000, and his full brother 98-44 being our main herd sire. PJE 1217 has been judged the reserve champion Super Cow of all breeds at the 1999 Harare Show.

Ru Dev Prett - sire of PJE 99-15

PJE 99-15 is a very dark red, correct, easy calving bull sired by our imported sire Ru Dev Prett (out of Buschbrunn Maus) out of a cow from 100% Woodsgift bloodlines, PJE 1179 who combines various German bloodlines such as Striss, Metz, Hektus, Plan and Moll. PJE 99-15's progeny are very similar to him in appearance with dark red, smooth coats and correct on their feet and legs. PJE 99-15 performed very well in the showring have won beef interbreed championships as a young bull. PJE 99-15 went on to be the highest selling Simmental bull in Zimbabwe in 2002. PJE 99-15 was very highly regarded by a breed inspector from the South African Simmental Society during a visit in 2003 and provides some interesting genetic combinations to the Simmental industry.

PJE 96-27 is a medium framed bull, with tremendous muscling and capacity. This bull
has the ideal frame for use on larger framed cows. PJE 96-27 carries his weight very well,
and is packed with beef - he passes this strong muscling onto his progeny. PJE 96-27
has also performed very well in the show ring, winning numerous breed and interbreed championships.
Sired by the South African bull Mandrake, out of a interestingly bred dam who is the product of mating mother and son resulting in very dominant traits from this line of breeding. PJE 350 ia also the the dam of PJE 621, who is a former senior herd sire in the Woodsgift herd - this cow therefore has had a major impact on the Woodsgift herd.

PJE 47 is the most influential bull to have been bred and used in the Woodsgift
herd. PJE 47 was judged the Supreme Champion beef bull in Zimbabwe in 1982
by Dean Thompson of the USA. His sons and daughters went on to win the same
title in the years to follow. Probably his greatest achievement was the winning of
the Governors Bowl for seven consecutive years - this competition is based on a group of five animals by one sire, and is judged across all breeds - this is a record that still stands today. PJE 47 was an exceptionally long bull and structurally very correct, this correctnness was passed onto his progeny. His progeny outperformed their counterparts in the show ring as well as the feedlot. PJE 47 is sired by the German bull Streik, out of the first home bred cow in the Woodsgift herd. PJE 47 has influenced some of the main South African bloodlines with a son, PJE 251, having sired the well known bull Kykso Bano, and grand sire to Overal Birner.
